Old (Town) Bay Seafood Seasoning
Old (Town) Bay seafood seasoning is most commonly used for seasoning crab, shrimp, and seafood. We first came across this recipe while we were living in northern Virginia and nearby Maryland's love of blue crab got us hooked! Since then, we've worked to perfect our version. The result is Old (Town) Bay, named after beautiful and historic Old Town Alexandria, Virginia.
Bay seasonings are used in numerous harbor towns across the USA from the Potomac and Chesapeake Bay area in Maryland and Virginia, down around the Florida panhandle, and even all the way up in Alaska. While the northern versions run a bit sweeter, the Louisiana versions tend to be a bit hotter.
Our blend seeks to meld the Atlantic and Gulf coast recipes with a heavy dose of celery seed and a spicy kick. Regardless of which side of the Mason-Dixon line you live on, Old (Town) Bay is a flavorful, bold, and exciting addition to your spice blend arsenal.
